Below are a few stills and a clip from my forthcoming film, The City and Her Stones, which should done and ready to start screening around Spring or Summer of 2025. These images all come from a roll of Super 8 Tri-X shot on December 6th and 7th, 2024 in Berlin. The main idea of the film is to engage with the physical ‘denkmal’ plaques that commemorate a history that Germany paradoxically seeks to erase while purporting to serve it.
For me, ‘preserving’ images of these historical remnants on a physical celluloid strip is an important part of the process that is The City and Her Stones. Learning about history hidden in plain sight is enlightening.
